Professional restoration is more appropriate where damage is advanced, the customer cannot identify the defect, the lamp is valuable, or controlled sanding and durable protection are required. Neither route fixes internal or structural faults.
DIY kits are most suitable for mild, even external haze on an otherwise healthy lamp. A complete kit should provide a documented process rather than only a bottle of compound. The user still needs clean working conditions, careful masking, even pressure and enough time to finish every stage.
Paying a professional only makes sense if the service adds diagnosis, controlled correction, suitable equipment, honest defect limits and a documented protection and aftercare process. A quick compound-only polish sold as permanent restoration is not automatically better than a careful DIY kit.
