Taillight Tinting
TAD Auto Detail provides mobile taillight tinting from North Wembley and across nearby parts of North West London. Selected smoked light-protection film changes the appearance of suitable rear lamp lenses while remaining removable in principle. Film age, lens condition and removal method affect residue and risk, and the completed lamps must retain the required colour, intensity, operation and visibility.
Road-legality assessed per vehicle. No MOT pass guaranteed at any tint level.

- Pairs perfectly with dechroming for a complete blacked-out package
3 Our Process
We arrive at your location with all film and installation tools. The taillight area is cleaned and decontaminated before installation begins. A film template is produced — digitally where possible, or hand-cut on site for non-standard light shapes. The film is wetted and precisely positioned onto the lens, then squeegeed to remove all moisture and air bubbles. A heat gun is applied to conform the film perfectly to all the curves and contours of the rear cluster, edges are trimmed to a clean, sharp finish, and the completed installation is inspected before we leave.
Who It's For
Taillight tinting is one of the most popular aesthetic modifications in the UK and is ideal for owners of dark-coloured vehicles, German executive cars (BMW, Mercedes, Audi), SUVs, and anyone completing a blacked-out customisation package. It pairs exceptionally well with dechroming for a fully cohesive, modern, premium aesthetic.
We bring all equipment and materials to your location, including our own water supply — you do not need to provide a water tap. We do however need access to a standard household power socket to run our equipment and charge the batteries for our tools. Please ensure the socket is within 50 metres of where the car will be parked. If it's further away, let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.

Tinted rear lamps are not automatically road legal. The completed lamps must retain the required emitted colour, intensity, operation and visibility. Under the MOT manual, a product that obviously reduces intensity or changes emitted colour can be a defect, and significantly reduced stop-lamp intensity is a major defect. We therefore assess each vehicle and do not guarantee an MOT pass.
Light smoke gives a subtle, lightly tinted finish that is barely noticeable from a distance. Medium smoke is our most popular — significantly darker and creating a clear visual impact. Dark smoke is the boldest option, giving a near-solid blacked-out appearance. If you are unsure, we are happy to advise based on your vehicle’s colour and style.
Typically 1 to 2 hours for both rear lights. Complex or multi-section rear clusters may take a little longer.
Yes — and we recommend booking them together, in the same visit where possible.
We bring our own water — you do not need to provide a tap. We do need access to a standard household power socket to charge our heat gun and tool batteries, within 50 metres of where the car is parked.
